The Sony A700 is the second dSLR since the Konica-Minolta camera division was bought out by Sony. The A700 follows the number convention of old Minolta, with the 7 indicated an advanced amateur or semi-professional caliber camera.
Features are now known and a few images have been released from various sources.
This seems like a promising development given the long and uncertain wait Sony has gives us up till now. Some shops are taking pre-orders at US$1499 (more in other parts of the world) and the camera is expected to be ship as soon as late September or perhaps as late as November.
